Providing continuous capacity modulation for HVAC/R DX systems since 1993 · 100,000+ valves installed in the field

Mechanical

APR Control®

The suction pressure-activated mechanical valve that turns oversized, staged DX equipment into a system that runs instead of cycling. Continuous capacity modulation, sized to the lead compressor, with nothing to program.

New or existing equipment

APR Control fits both ways: retrofit onto the equipment you already run, or built into new equipment by OEMs, contractors, and third-party modifiers, with no design-day capacity penalty.

What APR Control does

APR Control is an external compressor unloader that adds continuous capacity modulation to DX systems, allowing compressors to run at reduced capacity instead of cycling on and off. With turndown capabilities of up to 80%+ (depending on system configuration), APR Control helps match cooling capacity to the actual load in the space. Its mechanical, suction pressure-activated design requires no programming, controllers, or software maintenance.

Key Benefits

Runs Instead of Cycling

Continuous modulation replaces on/off cycling at part load, where roughly 90% of operating hours live.

Humidity Control

Longer runtimes at lower capacity keep coils cold and remove moisture.

Reliability

Fewer compressor starts mean less wear and longer service life.

Passive Freeze Protection

Evaporator freeze protection is passive, no add-on controls.

Models and Specs

APR Control is sized to the lead compressor, and can be applied to systems as small as 1.5 tons. Turndown is application-specific; our engineers confirm the model and operating values for your equipment and refrigerant.

Refrigerant Compatibility

Compatible with standard RTU and split systems, and new or old refrigerants (R-410A, R-454B, R-32). Legacy R-22 systems are supported as well. See the Refrigerants Hub for the transition picture.
