Pharmaceutical Packaging: 65% to 45% RH, Back in FDA Spec
A Pennsylvania pharmaceutical packager on 100% outdoor air kept cycling out of FDA spec at 65% RH. An APR Control retrofit dropped RH to 45% at 68°F in about a day of labor.

The Challenge
The facility required 100% outdoor air to meet FDA temperature and humidity rules during medication packaging. Even with new HVAC equipment, a system with only two compressors constantly cycled on short runtimes, pushing the facility out of specification. Humidity reached 65% at 68°F, causing repeated production shutdowns and emergency service calls.
The Solution
Peterson Service Company installed the APR Control to provide capacity modulation at the evaporator. That let system capacity match the varying load of the incoming outdoor air, virtually eliminating cycling and enabling continuous discharge-air control.
“Installing the APR Control took about a day's worth of labor, but it was straightforward and took no guesswork as a technician.”

The Results
The retrofit brought the room back into compliance quickly, and:
- Reduced relative humidity from 65% to 45% at 68°F
- Kept the facility in FDA compliance with no further interruptions
- Took about one day of labor to install
