System Type
Split Systems
Split DX systems face the same oversizing problem as packaged units: sized for peak, cycling through the partial loads that make up most of the year. APR Control adds continuous capacity modulation to the refrigerant circuit so the system runs instead of cycling.
New or existing equipment
On split systems, APR Control fits both ways: retrofit onto the equipment you already run, or built into new equipment by OEMs, contractors, and third-party modifiers, with no design-day capacity penalty.
Why split systems
APR Control is a suction pressure-activated mechanical valve installed on the refrigerant circuit, sized to the lead compressor. On a split system it delivers the same continuous modulation as on a rooftop unit: fewer compressor starts, steadier humidity, and lower compressor power at part load (16% lower, manufacturer testing), with no impact on rated capacity during design day conditions.
Continuous Modulation
Runs at reduced capacity instead of on/off cycling.
Reliability
Fewer high-stress starts, longer service life.
Refrigerant Compatibility
Compatible with new or old refrigerants (R-410A, R-454B, R-32), plus legacy R-22.
